With the announcement of the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly General Elections, the Model Code of Conduct, as mandated by the Election Commission of India, has come into effect. In this regard, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde held a special review meeting with relevant officials, instructing them to ensure the strict enforcement of the election code.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, and Dr. Shinde reviewed the action taken to remove unauthorized political advertisements such as posters, banners, and hoardings placed in public areas, as per the model code. He instructed both circles and all eight divisional offices, in coordination with the Encroachment Department, to expedite the removal of these advertisements and complete the task promptly.
The commissioner also reviewed other election-related matters in detail. Present at the meeting were Additional Commissioner Mr. Sunil Pawar, City Engineer Mr. Shirish Ardawad, Deputy Commissioner of Administration Mr. Sharad Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Elections Mr. Bhagwat Doiphode, along with other department heads and divisional officers.
